Cream Cheese Cookies


Store in refrigerator. 16 cookies.


1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. margarine, softened
1 c. Bisquick
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. sugar
1 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tsp. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg


  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease square pan, 8x8x2 inches. Beat Brown sugar and margarine until fluffy. Stir in Bisquick and walnuts until mixture is crumbly, reserve one cup.
  2. Press remaining mixture in pan. Bake 12 minutes. Mix cream cheese and sugar; beat in remaining ingredients until smooth. Spread cream cheese mixture over layer in pan; sprinkle with reserved crumbly mixture.
  3. Bake until center is firm, about 25 minutes. Cut into 2-inch squares.
