Croque Monsieur


Serve hot.


2 tbs mayonnaise
3/4 tsp Dijon mustard
8 slices white bread
4 slices ham
8 slices Gruyere cheese
2 tbs unsalted butter, melted


  1. In bowl, stir together 1 tbs mayo and mustard. Spread over 4 slices of bread. Arrange a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on each piece of bread.
  2. Put the remaining 4 slices of bread on top of the sandwiches. Brush the outside of both slices of bread with the melted butter.
  3. Heat a grill pan. Grill until the bread is lightly browned on both sides. Transfer the sandwiches to a cookie sheet.
  4. Spread the top of sandwiches with the remaining mayo and top with the remaining slices of cheese. Broil, cheese side up, 2 min. or until bubbly and golden brown.
